Nursing is important
Tuesday, March 03, 2009
I am currently in my first semester of nursing school, I am in a 2 year
program. I am working as a CNA right now and absolutely love it, and know
that Nursing is the right career for me. I want to work in the Emergency
Room at a hospital and than work on a Flight for Life helicoptor. I plan to
make my career goals become real. I currently volunteer at my local
Emergency Room and love every minute that I am able to help someone else. My
education for the 2 year program is just my first step, after I am done with
the 2 year program I want to begin to work as a RN and than I want to go on
to get my BSN. I believe that I am a good candiate for the scholarship
because I know that I will make my career goals become reality and that this
scholarship would only help me to achieve my goals.

A Helping Hand
Tuesday, March 03, 2009
“Give each other a helping hand”: words grounded from my mother
concerning family relations rang sound in my world travels. I would not have
made it through Africa and back in three months had I not taken the helping
hands of many on my journey. I was taken from a strange and foreign bus
depot in the middle of Eastern Africa to a safe and comforting hostel by the
trusting hands of one man with a wide smile. My mother, simply instructing
siblings to get along, never realized the power her words had on me, I use
this philosophy to guide my life. I am pursuing a career in nursing so I can
travel the world and lend a helping hand back to the people and communities
who were so gracious and patient with me during my travels.
Scholarships are becoming quite rare these days with the hardening of the
economy. In fact, it is becoming impossible to invest in much of anything.
However, I believe investment in humanity will always pay off. The gift of
sponsorship to go back to school, if I do receive it, will be paid forward.
Once I graduate from nursing school I will be able to offer so much more to
the world. Just like I had to help my brothers and sisters when I was young,
I hope to be able to do the same for the world as a nurse.
